8 Day Tour
The Mikmaq’s named the archipelango of Iles de la Madeleine “Menagoisenog” meaning “islands brushed by the waves”. We just say that these are “jewels of the gulf” and for good reason. “Folks from away” have been known to visit and fall in love, only to return time after time to drink in the sights of these lands drawn from the sea.
Day 1 CORNWALL, ON-PRES DU LAC, NB. It will be a beautiful day of travel through the Province of Quebec with a lunch stop at Quebec City. Our travels this afternoon will be on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River to our overnight stop just a little over an hour into the upper part of New Brunswick at Pres du Lac Inn. It is located just north of Grand Falls.
Day 2 PRES DU LAC, NB-SUMMERSIDE, PEI. The breathtaking scenery of the St John River Valley awaits today. We’ll touch on highlights of upper New Brunswick with a stop to view the largest cataract east of Niagara Falls, and then the longest covered bridge in the world at Hartland. We’ll have lunch in the capital city of Fredericton and then head for the longest bridge in North America, and one of the wonders of the world, “Confederation Bridge” taking us over the Northumberland Strait to our home tonight, The Loyalist Country Inn at Summerside. Day 3 SUMMERSIDE, PEI-CAP-AUX-MEULES, ILES DE LA MADELEINE. This morning we’ll visit the historical Capital City of Charlottetown before heading over to thequaint seaport village of Souris to board our state of the art vessel, “Le Madeleine”. At 2:00 PM we set sail. We will enjoy a welcome dinner in the formal dining room on board ship prior to arriving at Îles de la Madeleine. Chateau Madelinot, our Oceanfront Hotel in Cap-aux-Meules will be our home away from home for the next three nights. (B, D)
Day 4, 5 We’ll start at the west end of the island archipelago one day and the east end the following day. Two exciting days of touring with an English speaking guide will include a visit to the Seal Museum. We’ll visit some of the French and English municipalities such as Fatima, L’Etang-du-Nord, Cap-aux-Meules and we’ll stop at the historic site “La Grave”. This will be two very interesting days of touring and enjoying local culture. (B, L,D)
Day 6 CAP-AUX-MEULES, ILES DE LA MADELEINE-SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. Breakfast will be served onboard the vessel this morning. We sail across the Gulf of The St Lawrence for Prince Edward Island this morning, and this afternoon we’ll sight-see our way by motorcoach over to the eastern side of PEI to Summerside, where we’ll check-in at the lovely Loyalist Country Inn once again. This evening we’ll enjoy a lobster supper on the . (B, D)
Day 7 SUMMERSIDE PEI-RIMOUSKI, QC. We bid this island goodbye and head up the north shore of New Brunswick this morning. We’ll lunch in the Miramichi area and drive the scenic Matepedia Valley toward the St Lawrence River and our home at Rimouski Hotel Quebec for the night. (B)
Day 8 RIMOUSKI-CORNWALL, ON. We’ll have lunch in Quebec City today and then follow the south shore of the St Lawrence back to Montreal and into Ontario. (B)
