10 Day Tour
The maritime provinces have unsurpassed charm, each area with it’s own beauty. This tour covers all three of the Atlantic provinces. Come share the warmth of the people along with the breathtaking beauty of Canada’s ocean playground. We feature two night stays in Halifax, Baddeck in Cape Breton, and Summerside P.E.I.
Day 1 CORNWALL-GRAND FALLS It’s a beautiful drive along the south side of the St. Lawrence River to Riviere du Loup, then east to Grand Falls, New Brunswick. We’ll visit a very prestigious wood carving museum and studio after lunch today.
Day 2 GRAND FALLS-ST. JOHN We’ve a full day with lots to see, starting off with Grand Falls, the largest cataract east of Niagara, the longest covered bridge in the world at Hartland, then a city tour of Fredericton, the capital of New Brunswick. St. John, the province’s second largest city, will be our overnight stay. (B, D)
Day 3 ST. JOHN-HALIFAX We’ll make an interesting stop this morning at magnetic Hill, just outside of Moncton. Then we are off to Nova Scotia. The capital, Halifax will be our home for the next two nights. A city tour this afternoon will allow you to realize the importance of this great harbor and why Halifax is classified as one of the seven wonders of Canada. The remainder of the afternoon is free for you to explore more of this city on your own. The restored Halifax properties along the waterfront where Pier 21 is located, would be a great place to start. (B)
Day 4 This morning we will visit highlights on the picturesque Lighthouse Route – Peggy’s Cove, Lunenberg and Mahone Bay. After our return to Halifax, the afternoon is yours to shop, explore, or relax and enjoy the maritime air. (B)
Day 5 HALIFAX-BADDECK We’ll back track a little this morning, then cross the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton Island for our two night stay. This afternoon we’ll visit Alexander Graham Bell’s museum at Baddeck. (B, D)
Day 6 There are no words to really describe The Cabot Trail. It’s one of those “you have to see it to believe it!” places. This magnificent piece of countryside and rugged coastline, with its breathtakingly beautiful views, can all be seen from the comfort of your motorcoach. We’ll stop at the top of Old Smoky for a coffee break and have lunch at Pleasant Bay. (B)
Day 7 BADDECK-SUMMERSIDE We’ll visit beloved maritime singer Anne Murray’s museum this morning at Springhill before crossing the Confederation Bridge to picture pretty Prince Edward Island. A short drive puts us in the seaport of Summerside where we’ll stay at the lovely Loyalist Country Inn for the next two nights. (B)
Day 8 Our Island Guide will join us this morning. We’ll drive to the capital city of Charlottetown, home of Confederation, and visit Province House, the cradle of confederation. The island has many small but sustaining cottage industries and we’ll surprise you with one of the most interesting ones. Our visit to North Rustico fishing village to learn about the fishing industry, plus Cavendish area for a little Anne Of Green Gables will make this not only an informative but highly interesting day. Lobster supper awaits you this evening. (An alternate meal is provided for those who do not eat shellfish.) (B,D)
Day 9 SUMMERSIDE-RIMOUSKI Confederation Bridge, one of the great wonders of the world, will be the first part of this day’s journey. We’re headed due north to the Province of
Quebec through the beautiful Matapedia Valley. Picking up the south shore of the St. Lawrence, we swing due west to our last overnight stay at Rimouski on the St Lawrence River. (B)
Day 10 RIMOUSKI-CORNWAL We’re homeward bound today. We stop in Quebec City for lunch. Taking the short ferry service from Levis into Quebec City, gives you a magnificent
view of Old Quebec from the waters edge. You’ll have time for lunch as well as exploring the lower and upper walled city.
This evening, our maritime journey will end, but we guarantee your experiences of the last few days will be highlights of your summer this year. (B)
